Multi Webcam Video Recorder is a video recording suite. It has two versions: Free and Pro. There are a few differences between these two versions, but they are mostly limitations. The free version can only display one camera at a time and it can't open several video windows at once. The pro version has support for several web cams and it can group them in different windows for easy browsing.
I tested the free version. Adding a camera was easy enough. I selected my web camera from a drop-down list and it was added. I had to manually activate the preview, though. At first I wasn't sure if it was working, but then I realized that I had to activate a preview mode to see the video. By default, my camera was displayed in almost full screen. There is a variety of other views, which are useful for when you have many web cameras. Multi Webcam Video Recorder Free added a watermark to my video feed.
This app can only record videos in the Windows Media Video format, which is playable by all Windows computers, but if you want to use the video somewhere else, you will have to convert it.
All in all, the free version is an OK app for recording video, but it lacks the quality, ease of use, features and output formats of the most popular recorders. The pro version adds support for several web cameras, but it is as limited as the free version. There are no video scheduling options, no motion detection, and it doesn't have any remote control features.
- The pro version supports camera grouping for easy browsing
- No motion detection
- Limited output support
- Slow interface
